Roach Energy Announces Total Funds Raised for Local United Way Campaign

Roach Energy partnered with the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle to raise funds for their Warming Hands and Hearts initiative from January until the end of March that coordinates efforts to keep the heat on for the neediest of our community members.

Martinsburg, WV (PRWeb) May 1, 2013 – Affordable heating solutions provider, Roach Energy, is excited to announce they raised a total of $16, 244 for the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle’s Warming Hands and Hearts initiative.

This is the second year that Roach Energy has participated in this fundraising event, raising over $3,000 this year compared to their donation of $12,967 last year. Roach Energy and ROCS Convenience Stores, which is owned and operated by R.M. Roach & Sons, raised the funds through several different outlets over the course of three months.

The BP grant funded through the BP Communities Program brought in a total of $6,500. Direct donations from the community brought in a total of $3,765. A dollar was donated for every Facebook “Like” that Roach or ROCS received, totaling $215. All proceeds from Warming Hands and Hearts mugs sold at ROCS totaled $764. Then $.01 per gallon was donated for every heating fuel sale, totaling $5,000.

According to Steve Roach, President of R.M. Roach and Sons, “This is an amazing cause that we participate in every year. Partnering with the United Way provides us with a way to invest in our community while creating lasting, sustainable changes that lead to better, stronger places to live and work. Every dollar raised goes directly to someone in need in our community.”

The goal of Warming Hands and Hearts is to ensure that every family in Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan counties with a legitimate need is assisted.  The ability to provide assistance is limited to the dollars that are donated/granted to the Warming Hands and Hearts Fund.  For more information on the Warming Hands and Hearts programs and ways to contribute, please visit the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle website www.uwayep.org.
